Background: Flamestripe was born a kittypet by the name of Scorcher. He was always turned down and ignored by his parents because they thought, based on how roughly he played with his sister, he could be dangerous when he grew up. To prove this, he went out into his father's barn and killed a rat that had infected and eventually killed his grandfather. Jessame, Bran, and Mintpelt (then Minty) didn't congratulate him on his revenge. They just stared at him in pure terror. "I told you he would be dangerous! We must cast him away before he gets out of hand!" His mother hissed to his father. Instead of protesting, Scorcher stared wide-eyed at his family, tears welling in his bright green eyes. The young ginger tom dropped the rat body and ran into the loft, burying himself in the hay.
